Revolver vs Pistol Confusion

Pistol? Revolver? You don’t get it? Not to worry; I understand!! If you are just starting out to learn about firearms, all the vocabulary can be extremely confusing.Ya got your pistol, ya got your revolver. What’s the difference?

No problemo!

I’ll give it to you the short version, kind of simple and sweet.

Revolvers

If you grew up in the English speaking world playing cowboys and indians, think of a revolver as a cowboy gun. When the picture of a cowboy gun comes into your mind, you are probably seeing a revolver.

A revolver has a cyclinder you can see which rotates, and holds the ammo.

Pistols

Your prototypical pistol not only fires the weapon, but it magically (automatically) loads a new cartridge. That’s why you’ll hear the term, “semi-automatic.”

So……

Does that make sense now? If you are new to guns, and want things basic, then a revolver might be for you. If you plan to put some practice and even more energy into this, then pistols might be better.
